ST. PAUL‚ Minn. – (February 25th, 2010) – 3M ESPE announces new collaborations with 3Shape and Dental Wings that will give laboratories more flexibility in material and workflow options. This partnership will eventually provide 3Shape and Dental Wings customers the ability to access Lava Zirconia through the network of Authorized Lava™ Milling Centers. Additionally, dentists with the Lava Chairside Oral Scanner C.O.S. will be able to send their scans to 3Shape and Dental Wings laboratories, accessing a greater variety of CAD/CAM materials.

"With this expansion of the Lava Network, laboratories will have more options than ever before in how they manage workflows and select materials," said Mark Farmer, general manager of the 3M digital oral care department. "The outstanding accuracy of the Lava C.O.S. will be applied in the creation of various CAD/CAM restorations, and Lava zirconia will be accessible for users of 3Shape and Dental Wings scanners."

3M ESPE will continue validating workflows and anticipates the D640 and the D700 series scanners from 3Shape and the 5 Series scanner from Dental Wings will meet the required specifications. An additional software module will be required for these scanners to join the Lava Network and is targeted for release later in the year.
